La Triomphe 14K Gold Opal & Diamond Enameled Ring
vintage 14k yellow gold with green enamel leaf support accents -signed ‘La Triomphe', name given to a range of jewelry created by the American firm Astoria Jewelry Manufacturing Company of Long Island, NY - first use of the name (which was trademarked), accompanied by its distinctive logo of Paris’s Arc de Triomphe, was in June 1965. For the next twenty or so years they created some fabulously bold pieces of cocktail jewelry including rings, bracelets and earrings. Almost exclusively made in yellow gold, the pieces were set with brightly colored gems such as peridot, amethyst and tourmaline as well as hardstones such as turquoise, lapis lazuli and malachite. The name is no longer in use but the jewelry remains widely collected and appreciated for its vibrant colors, strong designs and vintage aesthetic. (7.3 Dwt.)
